Whole-wheat Biscuits which are crunchy, yummy and eggless! These whole-wheat Biscuits are made with simple ingredients from the kitchen and the best thing is – these doesn’t have baking powder and baking soda.
A perfect recipe for the kids and toddlers. If you are a new mother and want to give your toddler something healthy (baking powder and baking soda free) which can be mashed in milk, this recipe is for you. I have made these biscuits for my nephew and he loves it too. Mind it, he is just 2 years old!
These whole wheat biscuits can be made in a Microwave or on a Kadhai too. You need not have an OTG or a Microwave to bake this. With simple and basic ingredients from the kitchen, these biscuits can be made in 15-20 minutes.
I have baked them in a microwave and it takes 17 minutes. If you like it less crunchy, you can bake it for 15 minutes too. For the flavor, I have used cumin seeds (slightly roasted) – as my family loves Jeera Cookies. With the same recipe, you can even make Coconut biscuits.
Why I love these Biscuits?
- It’s healthy {duh} – whole wheat and ghee!
- Crunchy and super yummy.
- The perfect companion for my evening tea.
- Can be made in 15-17 minutes.
- These can be baked in a microwave or on a Kadhai too.
- No Baking Powder and Soda – perfect to give to your toddlers.
How I have made these impression on the Biscuits?
I have not used any mold or cookie cutter. You can give any desired shape but what I did was – take a small lemon size ball of the dough, press it gently. Remove the edges to make it a square shape. Now with the help of a knife, mark these diagonal lines just mark them on the top.
Few things to kept in mind:
- Always use measuring cups and spoons to measure the ingredients while baking.
- In this recipe, we are using 80% Whole wheat and 20% all-purpose flour. This gives the texture and taste of the recipe. You can make 100% whole wheat biscuits too.
- For this recipe, room temperature ghee is used. No need to buy market butter.
- Mix all the dry ingredients first and then incorporate the ghee. Try to add ghee little at a time. If required, add more.
- Do not use milk or water to knead the dough.
- We will use ghee for kneading the dry ingredients.

- In a big thali or a mixing bowl, take atta, maida, and powdered sugar. If you don't have powdered sugar, just blend normal sugar in a mixer.
- Now to the same add 4 pinches of salt, just to balance the taste.
- Add cardamom/elaichi powder according to taste. You can avoid this too. It's totally optional.
- Add slightly roasted cumin seeds. Can be avoided if making for kids or toddlers.
- Mix all the dry ingredients really well. Now add ghee little by little. Do not add it at once.
- We want to make a semi-soft dough, the dough should be good enough to make balls of it. Like you should be easily making balls of the dough.
- Once a dough is formed. Divide the dough using the biggest measuring spoon. This helps in getting equal size biscuits.
- Make small balls of the dough and flatten them a bit. Now with the help of a knife, cut the edges to give a square shape. Using the same knife, mark these impressions on the top.
- Now using a cotton ball or a brush, gently brush some milk on top of the cookies, this helps in getting this beautiful golden brown color. You can either dip the cotton in milk, squeeze and then apply on the biscuits or else use a cooking brush to apply the milk. We just have to apply little milk, slightly brush it. That's it.
- Arrange all the biscuits on a baking tray.
- Preheat the Microwave on 180 degrees for 5 mins on Convection mode.
- Bake these Biscuits at 180 degrees on Convection mode for 15-17 minutes. Check once around 15 minutes, if require keep it for another 2 minutes.
- Voila! Eggless whole wheat biscuits are ready to have with a cup of chai.
- All-purpose flour can be avoided. Just whole wheat can be used too.
- Jeera can be avoided too.
- Bake them on a kadhai if you do not have a Microwave.
- Adjust the sugar according to taste.
- Always add ghee slowly, you might use less than the mentioned.
