Want to munch something on the go? Here’s a quick and healthy recipe which is crunchy and crispy too. You can make this beforehand, store in a jar and munch whenever feeling hungry.
Some of the health benefits of Makhana or Phool Makhane are: It’s a good source of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. High in fiber and low in calories, it enables weight loss too.
To make it healthier, I have added almonds too. You can add walnuts or even cashews too. It totally depends on your taste.
Simple, very quick and easy to make – let’s get started.

- 250 Gms Makhane Slit in half
- 50 Gms Almonds
- Black Pepper powder To taste
- salt To taste
- 1-2 Teaspoon ghee
Ingredients

- Slit makhane in half using a knife. Do this for the entire 250 gms or whatever quantity you making.
- In a kadhai, heat ghee and roast makhane and almonds on low flame.
- Keep tossing them. We want the makhane and almonds to get roasted from all the sides.
- Once you see they are roasted enough, switch off the gas. Pour a bit of ghee and sprinkle black pepper powder and salt. This is done so that the masala gets stick to the makhane.
- Check the seasoning. You can adjust according to your taste.
- Once cooled down, store them in a jar and you are good to go. Enjoy this when you are hungry. It tastes yum!
