Missi Roti | Indian flatbread recipe

Missi Roti - Indian flat bread using Besan and masala.
Missi Roti | Indian flatbread recipe.

Missi Roti are savory Indian flatbread made using Chickpea or Besan. It is a traditional North Indian recipe that is made in almost every Indian household. I have been eating since my childhood, my Mother serves it with Marwaari Kadhi. Easy to make, tastes delicious and a perfect recipe to serve to the guests.

There are days when I get bored of eating the normal roti and thus I add a change to my plate by adding Missi Roti. You can have it with Kadhi or dahi or any achar of your choice. This tastes delicious with Nimbu ka Achar or Aam Ka Achar.

There are so many variants of making Missi roti at home. I have two recipes, in one I add onions which makes it more like Punjabi Missi Roti, and another one where I don’t add any onion. A perfect Jain recipe that is loved by people who don’t eat onion and garlic.

Also, you can achar/pickle in the recipe as suggested by supaintsonplate – I haven’t tried it yet but I am sure it tastes even better. Try and let me know.

This recipe doesn’t have any onions or seasonal vegetables like spinach or meethi.

Very easy recipe and tastes absolutely delicious. I usually make it on Sundays where I can make two types of roti along with some Kadhi and rice. Also, I have shaped them round using a Katori so that they look identical, and when you serve these look so pretty. Try this hack when you have guests coming over.
