Mawa Peda is popularly known as Dhoodh Peda or Milk Peda. As the name suggests it is made from milk solids or mawa. A popular Indian mithai that is loved by everyone. You will find this in almost every mithai shop here in North India. One of my favorite mithai is fuss-free and doesn’t have confusing elements. It’s basic, it’s delicious and it tastes absolutely delicious.
With few ingredients in your kitchen, this Mawa Peda is a great recipe to try for festivals. I have been eating this since my childhood. Every time there is extra milk in my Mom’s kitchen, she used to make Mawa out of it and then makes these delicious Pedas.
Since festivals are around the corner, these Pedas are great for Ganesh Chaturthi, Krishna Janmashtami, and Diwali. A perfect dessert to make when you have leftover milk at home. Ideally, you can buy Mawa from the market, but we make Mawa at home and thus making this recipe even more authentic and hygienic.
How to make homemade Mawa?
Making Homemade Mawa takes time for sure but the results are fantastic. It’s not only easy to make but super hygienic. The process is pretty simple. Boil 1.5 liters of milk in a deep big kadhai. Let it cook on low flame for approx one hour till all the water evaporates and what’s remaining is the milk solids and that’s your Mawa.
Pretty simple na? But the only point to look after is you have to constantly keep an eye on it and keep on stirring in between. Trust me, once you will make it at home, you won’t buy from the market.
