Chaas or Buttermilk is a must have during Summer in India. When it’s hot outside, chilled buttermilk is one drink which is loved by all. Simple, quick and easy to make, chaas or Buttermilk is not only cooling but it helps in digestion too.
Masala Chaas is simple chaas/buttermilk blended with few spices, herbs, coriander leaves and mint leaves. It’s refreshing and completes your meal. It is advised to drink Masala Chaas or Chaas during Summers, as it will protect you from the hot weather outside.

- 1 Cup Yogurt/Curd/Dahi
- 1.5 Cups water
- 10-15 leaves Pudina Leaves
- 1 tablespoon coriander leaves Chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- a pinch Black Salt
- salt to taste

Instructions
- In a mixing bowl or jug, take curd/yogurt and water. Whisk it well using a whisker. You can blend it using a blender too.
- Next add chopped mint leaves, chopped coriander leaves, cumin powder, black salt and salt. You can add these according to your preference.
- Whisk it well using a whisker or you can blend it in a blender. Also for that froth, use a hand blender.
- Add few ice cubes, garnish with mint leaves and serve chill.
- Masala Chaas is ready to serve. Happy Summers!
Recipe Notes
- Add water according to the thickness of curd. You can adjust the consistency according to your taste.
- If you don't like chunks of mint leaves and coriander leaves in your mouth, you can crush them with some water in a blender and then can sieve the mixture.
- You can even make normal chaas by just adding cumin powder, salt, and black salt.
