Kesariya Peda |How to make Peda at home.

Kesariya Peda is a traditional Indian mithai recipe made from Mawa or khoya. Flavored with saffron strands, it is a quick, simple yet decadent recipe that is commonly made during the festive season.

Since Diwali is around the corner, everyone will be making lots of Indian sweets and namkeen. This recipe is a perfect treat for people who love mithai made from milk.

Usually, Peda is made from Khoya or mawa but for this recipe I am using just 3 ingredients that are easily available in almost all Indian kitchens.

Melt-in-your-mouth, this recipe takes 15 minutes and doesn’t require that many ingredients. A perfect recipe to make during this festive and treat it to your friends and family. Furthermore, this Kesariya Peda recipe is apt for people who are beginners in cooking or if you are a bachelor living far from your family, this recipe is your best friend.

Tips of making the perfect Kesariya Peda:

  • Use a non-stick pan so that the Peda combines properly.
  • Make these Pedas on low flame.
  • You can use any milk. I have used packet one.
  • Use food color to give this bright beautiful color.
  • Add sugar according to taste and preference.

  1. In a nonstick pan or a vessel. Take milk and let it come to a boil. Add the food color as per your choice. I have used a yellow color for the Kesariya effect. To this add the milk powder and mix it well. There should be no lumps.
  2. Stir this mixture for a while till both the ingredients combine together. Milk and milk powder will start coming together.
  3. Now add sugar and mix it well. Cook it on low flame till sugar gets dissolved.
  4. Add saffron strands and cardamom powder.
  5. Switch off the gas and let the mixture cool down a bit. The mixture should be warm enough to make balls.
  6. Make round pedas using your palm. Use a fork to give a little texture on the top. Once done, sprinkle some orange food color for that pop of color.
