Aloo Pyaaz Sabzi

So..this recipe is for beginners like me. Cooking is definitely no rocket-science, its not that difficult as we think. For those who really love cooking and wanna get their hands down in kitchen, always try to start with something easy. Slowly-slowly you can try those complicated ones.

Now Aloo is one of the basic vegetable which is loved by all. We can mix-match Aloo with any vegetable and it tastes yum.

I am a huge fan of Aloo-Pyaaz sabzi, it tastes yum and also can be make by anyone. If you are a bachelor and staying away from home, you should definitely try this out! 🙂

Lets Get Started

Ingredients :

Pyaaz or Onion : 2-3 Big Ones

1 Oil : table spoon

1/2 Cumin seeds : tea spoon

1/2 Mustard seeds : tea spoon

a pinch Hing :

1 Green chilli : small

1 Red chilli powder : tea spoon

1/2 Turmeric powder : tea spoon

1/2 Dry Mango powder (Amchur) : tea spoon

1 Coriander powder : table spoon

1/2 Garam Masala : tea spoon

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves : for garnish

Steps :

  1. Peel and cut aloo (potato) in slices. Wash them in running water. Once washed soak them in clean water so that it doesn’t turn yellow in colour.
  2. Peel and cut pyaaz (onion) in slices.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  4. Add hing and add slit green chilli.
  5. Now take out aloo from the water and add to the Kadhai. Sauté for few minutes till it becomes soft and tender. Basically we don’t want the potatoes to be raw.
  6. Now add onions and sauté till they become little transparent and pink in colour.
  7. Mix well on low-medium flame
  8. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well
  9. Now add amchur powder and garam masala. Mix and switch off the gas.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves
  11. Serve with hot fulkas or paratha.

Yay! Such an easy recipe no! 🙂 Do try and tell me!

Happy Cooking
