If you have ever been to Hyderabad, or if you have relatives there, you must have tried these Tutti frutti biscuits from the very famous Karachi Bakery. I lived in Hyderabad for 2 years and one of the best things I had, was these Fruit Biscuits. Oh trust me, these are the best biscuits I have ever tasted in my life.

But one fine day I bumped into a post by Café Garima and OMG- I was jumping and screaming with joy. She has re-created the exact same recipe and I was just drooling over her blog post. That same day I have decided that I am gonna try them no matter what.

I am so so grateful and thankful to Garima for sharing this recipe. Here is the link to her recipe: Café Garima’s Recipe – Do check. She is my inspiration and her website is amazing.

This Tutti frutti biscuit recipe is very simple, easy, and includes fewer ingredients. The trick is to follow the measurements and the process. If you follow it word-to-word, I am sure, you will nail it too. No Baking Powder No Baking soda is the key!

Instructions
  1. Sieve the flour/maida.
  2. Leave the butter out on the counter till it is soft. Do not melt it. We need the butter soft, but not melted. The key is to use soft butter and not melted one.
  3. In a big mixing bowl- take Softened butter and Powdered Sugar. Blend it with the help of a double beater till light and creamy. It takes approx. 2-5 minutes.
  4. Now add Vanilla essence + Cardamom powder + Tutti frutti/ Candied fruits.
  5. Mix it well with the help of beater.
  6. Now slowly add the flour and mix it with the help of your fingers. Incorporate the butter into the flour.
  7. Gently bring the dough together. Do not knead!
  8. Take a cling roll, place the dough into it. Roll the cling roll tightly and secure it with rubber bands at the side.
  9. Refrigerate it for an hour.
  10. After an hour, take out the cling roll, remove the cling paper.
  11. Cut it into slices about half-inch thick
  12. Preheat the Microwave at 180 degree in Convection for 5 minutes
  13. Arrange biscuits in a Microwave tray. Maintain distance between them because they expand when bake.
  14. Bake them in convection for about 14 minutes at 180 degrees.
  15. When the bottom of the cookies begins to brown, they are done. They will be soft in the middle, but will firm up on cooling.
  16. Cool them down and store them in air-tight jars
  17. Crumbly-Soft-Yummy Fruit biscuits are ready to serve
  18. Serve it with Warm milk or a nice cup of tea.
